The Manager of Inventory Control for the Chester, NY Distribution Center (DC) is a newly created role. The Manager of Inventory Control is integral member of the Distribution Center (DC) Operations team and responsible for supporting daily inventory control operations and managing the accuracy and reporting of inventory and location records within the Distribution Center. The Manager of Inventory Control is responsible for developing and managing the processes supporting accuracy and reporting of inventory and location records within the Distribution Center. Develops, establishes, and maintains inventory cycle count controls and works cross functionally with key stakeholders to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leverage reports and analytics to make recommendations in line with business strategy and goals.
  • Partner and collaborate with management to proactively drive inventory accuracy.
  • Coach, hire and retain a team to perform successfully.
  • Plan, organize, manage, and control the day-to-day operations of the Inventory Control department.
  • Monitor Cycle Counts to verify that resources are properly balanced and are supporting Distribution's productivity targets.
  • Manage the exceptions and work with the receiving process manager to ensure exceptions are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Manage the accuracy and reporting of inventory and location records within the Distribution Center.
  • Implement an analysis technique to determine root cause of inventory discrepancies, quantify shortages, and provide reporting to DC Manager related to damaged inventory.
  • Achieve company goals pertaining to inventory record accuracy.
  • Interface with the internal and external audit partners to ensure policies and procedures related to Inventory Control.
  • Drive cross functional communication across the distribution center to ensure inventory control are in place.
  • Identify timing of physical inventory audits are required.
  • Support the Company's policies and processes related to regulatory and financial reporting

Job Requirements

  • 5-7 years of proven and successful experience in Supply Chain knowledge and Inventory Management
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Deep understanding of Inventory Management principles and systems
  • Deep knowledge of distribution principles
  • Well versed in financial inventory metrics
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Superior analytical skills, with ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions
  • Excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze and provide recommendations to drive sales and maximize inventory potential
  • A strong sense of ownership over work and results
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization
