Job Summary:

A Maintenance Technician will be required to perform tasks involved in the upkeep of the building and grounds, installation, maintenance, maintaining and repairing of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment and building. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently and follow Deco's standards for safety and conduct.

Job Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, install and repair both high and low voltage systems.
  • Installation and programming of variable frequency drives.
  • Find root causes to mechanical and electrical problems and repair them.
  • Repair, design, and install mechanical drive train systems.
  • Perform machine change-over activities from start to finish without assistance.
  • Properly setup the former mechanical operation process such as gibbs, die and cutter-head alignment.
  • Project design and fabrication from concept to finished product.


  • Degree in Automation Technology, Automated Machinery Systems, Electrical Journeyman or equivalent vocational training.
  • Must score 75% or better on the advanced electrical aptitude test.
  • Must score 75% or better on the mechanical aptitude test.
  • Good understanding of AC and DC electricity.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • AC and DC motor troubleshooting and installation.
  • Excellent Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge in PC/PLC controlled machinery.
  • Understanding of PLC ladder logic and PLC programming.
  • Must have a firm understanding of servo, stepper, vector, and VFD.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to communicate well with production and printing employees as well as management.
  • Must have the ability to communicate well with other members of the maintenance team.
  • Must have the ability to read electrical schematics and have efficient panel layout and wiring skills.
  • Must have a firm understanding of industrial process controls.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical and solid-state devices.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds or more without assistance. Must be willing to work in areas with loud machine noise and confined spaces. Must be able to perform in a high pressure and fast paced environment.

Experience Level:

  • 2+ years practical experience in industrial mechanical system either through work history or co-op opportunities.
  • 5+ years' experience in industrial wiring either through work history or co-op opportunities.
