Amscan is the consumer products division of Party City Holdings, Inc. and is the largest designer, manufacturer and distributor of party goods and accessories in the world. In our Elmsford, New York office we design Party Goods, Costumes and Gifts which are sold to consumers by Party City and other retailers, globally.

Job Overview

The Industrial Engineer supports process improvement and projects for the distribution center, typically related to cost driving and productivity. An Engineer may perform operational analysis, process improvement, facility and capacity planning, and project management. Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects, possesses excellent communication skills, works well with a team, interacts with multiple levels and functions within the Distribution center.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities through competitive analysis, and critical thinking. Supports and/or leads cross-functional strategic or process improvement projects.
  • Conducts time studies, performs zero base analysis, rate analysis, network analysis, statistical analysis, flow path analysis and related analysis.
  • Develops reports and runs ad hoc queries. Identifies, modifies and develops standard operating procedures to streamline operating processes and training opportunities.
  • Provides facility and capacity planning support for distribution and supply chain.
  • Partner and collaborate with management to proactively drive improvement.
  • Achieve DC goals pertaining safety, accuracy, service and cost.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have a BS in Industrial Engineering/Management/Technology or related degree with a desirable 5+ years of relevant experience in measuring labor work, creating engineering labor standards (ELS), improving labor and work methods efficiency and facilitating/leading continuous improvement/lean projects in a distribution environment.
  • Experience in MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique or Pre-determined motion times) and Time Studies via stopwatch and/or electronic tablets/UMT system.
  • Previous experience in a progressive distribution environment that utilizes ELS, WMS and LMS, automation, time and attendance systems, and LEAN, Six Sigma / ISO principles is required.
  • Must be proficient with MOST or Pre-determined motion times, IE Time Studies, Excel, Access, SQL, Word, Power Point, Microsoft project & Auto Cad.
  • Must have exposure to Labor Management systems.
  • Lean/Kaizen A3/Six sigma and experience are preferred.
  • Experience with DC facility and equipment maintenance is desirable.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, conveyors applications in distribution highly desirable.
